Frequent Patient Quetions

Our goal is for every patient who visits Aspen Dental to have a positive experience. Here are answers to some questions that are commonly asked of our Patient Satisfaction team.

Q.

Why isn't a cleaning scheduled for my first visit?

Aspen Dental takes a comprehensive approach to dental care, which is why your first visit consists of an exam, x-rays and consultation.

There are several levels of cleaning available, so based on your exam, the dentist will review his or her recommended treatment plan with you, including the amount of time the hygienist will need for your cleaning. The office will schedule the appointment as quickly as possible, potentially the same day if the schedule allows.

Q.

The dentist recommended that I have scaling and root planing. But it's a more expensive procedure – why can't I just receive a regular cleaning?

Periodontal disease – or gum disease – is an infection that can severely harm the gums and bone supporting your teeth. People with gum disease often complain of bleeding, swollen gums, sensitive teeth or bad breath.

Gum disease is a very common condition and affects as many as three out of four Americans. Like any infection left untreated, gum disease has been linked to tooth loss as well as serious and costly health issues, including heart disease, diabetes and stroke. Scaling and planing can help eliminate the inflammation and infection that contributes to the tissue destruction around teeth caused by periodontal disease.

At Aspen Dental, we believe in comprehensive care, which means that we not only want to address any immediate problems that may cause pain or discomfort in the short-term, but also review treatment recommendations for long-lasting good health.

Q.

Another dentist gave me a different treatment recommendation than the dentist at Aspen Dental. Why is that?

It is not uncommon for two or more dental professionals to look at the same patient and offer different treatment recommendations. This does not mean that one professional is right and the other is wrong – it's simply a reflection of what each dentist believes is the best course of treatment for that particular patient.

We encourage patients to ask questions of the dentist to fully understand the recommended course of treatment so that they are able to make an informed choice about what is best for them.

Q.

Can you provide cost estimates over the phone?

It's very difficult to provide an accurate price for any dental procedure because there are so many factors that the dentist needs to consider. Everyone's mouth is different, and the amount of work involved in any particular procedure or service varies from patient to patient.

As far as dentures go, we offer eight styles of ComfiDents® dentures, so pricing varies depending on the type of denture you select. All of our dentures are custom-crafted in Aspen Dental's own denture labs, which helps keep the cost lower than a traditional dental practice. You may also be eligible for special promotions or discounts that would make the procedure even more affordable.

We invite you to visit an Aspen Dental office for a new-patient exam and x-rays, or a free denture consultation. Based on your exam, the dentist will provide recommendations for your care. Then the office manager will be able to review with you how much your care will cost, as well as go over your estimated insurance benefits (if applicable) and payment options.
