It takes a while for your mouth to adjust to your new dentures. Some of the more typical issues that might affect you include:

Just like natural teeth, your dentures must be properly cared for. To keep your mouth healthy, and to keep your dentures from being permanently stained, be sure to brush the denture teeth daily to remove food deposits and plaque. Don't brush your dentures with a regular toothbrush because it can damage the surface of the dentures. Use a denture brush and a quality denture cleanser or soap instead.
Remember to brush your gums, tongue and palate every day to remove plaque and to keep the inside of your mouth clean and healthy.
Dentures can dry out and lose their shape over time. Whenever they are not in your mouth, place them in a denture cleanser soaking solution or water.

Periodic adjustments will ensure that your dentures fit comfortably in your mouth. Even as a denture patient, you'll need to come in once a year for an exam and x-rays.
During your annual denture exam, we'll:
The ADA recommends that you replace your dentures every 5-7 years because tissues in your mouth change over time, and bones and gum ridges can shrink, causing ill-fitting dentures. Also, denture teeth can wear down and stain just like natural teeth.
