Understanding the denture process.

Dentures give you a brand-new, beautiful smile, and improve many aspects of your life. You’ll be confident in your appearance, but, more important, you’ll be able to eat better which can lead to improved overall health.

Whether you’re getting your first set of dentures, or looking for a replacement set, Aspen Dental strives to make the process easy and comfortable.

On-site denture labs.

All Aspen Dental offices are equipped with an on-site denture lab. Our doctors and lab technicians work together to provide you the best-fitting, high-quality dentures. In addition, you receive your dentures quickly and you can wait for your adjustments and most repairs.

Quick, easy steps.

We know that it would be great to have everything done in one visit. But, several steps have to be completed before you receive your dentures. These visits are typically short and you will never have to be without teeth.

All dentures start with an impression--a mold, basically--of your mouth. Following the impression and depending on your particular situation and how many natural teeth you have, our doctor will do a bite registration, a wax-try-in, or both.

During the bite registration, you will bite down on soft wax to see how your upper and lower jaws and existing teeth line up. This helps us make sure your dentures will feel and work right.

During the wax-try-in, you’ll see what your new smile will look like. At this stage your actual denture teeth are set in wax so that you can tell the doctor if you’re satisfied with the bite, size, shape, color, and position. We will then make any changes to your liking.

Finally, you’ll either come in for your new replacement dentures or for any extractions you may need. Because of the prep work and our on-site denture lab, denture wearers who have had extractions will have their dentures inserted immediately to protect mouth tissue and promote healing.

It’s just a matter of time.

Next Day - For patients who have had extractions, an appointment will typically be made for the following day so our dentist can check progress and make any necessary adjustments.

One Week Later - Any sutures that were placed during extractions will be removed, which will promote healing. Our doctor will adjust your immediate denture if necessary.

4-6 Months - Your gums have completely healed and you can now come in to have your dentures re-fitted with a hard re-line, or you will receive your new permanent dentures—depending on the package you purchased.

Don’t worry, sore spots during the 6-month healing period following extractions are normal and can be relieved with just a few adjustments by our dentist.
